Mr. Taylor Spencer – Master Instructor

Mr. Taylor Spencer is a Black Belt in Shotokan‑Kempo Karate and an active student of Gracie Humaita Jiu Jitsu. A dedicated Masters Division competitor, he has earned multiple gold medals across Karate and Jiu Jitsu, including a major win at the 2023 Ontario Provincial Jiu Jitsu Championship. He is a certified coach under the Ontario Jiu Jitsu Association and proudly leads the Kontact Martial Arts Competition Team at events across the province.
Mr. Spencer reignited his passion for martial arts in 2018 under Renshi Mike Ferdosi, 6th Dan Headmaster of Canam Karate Newmarket. Renshi Mike’s mentorship and family‑oriented dojo culture left a lasting impact, inspiring Taylor to create a martial arts environment where every student feels welcomed, supported, and part of something meaningful.
A devoted husband and father of three, Mr. Spencer wanted his children to experience the same positive martial arts upbringing he cherished. After moving to the Midland area and finding limited training options, he made the decision to open his own academy—one that would offer high‑quality Karate and Jiu Jitsu to local families. Today, his children train alongside him, his 2 boys hold Black belts and continue practicing Gracie Humaita Jiu Jitsu. Their shared training has strengthened their bond, just as it does for the many families who join the Kontact community.
Mr. Spencer trains daily and continues to expand his knowledge through seminars with world‑renowned martial artists, including Bill “Superfoot” Wallace, Royler Gracie, David Adiv, and Trevor Lewis. He has also taught self‑defense seminars for local charities and seniors, including work with Breaking Down Barriers in Collingwood, Ontario. He is certified in First Aid and CPR/AED Level C.
At Kontact Martial Arts Academy, Mr. Spencer’s mission is simple:
Make martial arts accessible, fun, respectful, and empowering for everyone.
His energetic teaching style, compassionate leadership, and deep technical knowledge draw students of all ages. He is committed to helping each student grow—not only as martial artists, but as confident, respectful individuals. Many of his students have achieved, and often surpassed, goals they once thought were out of reach.
We are more than a dojo. We are a Martial Arts Family.
Join us and start building lifelong memories on the mats.
